This book is intended to help teachers or future teachers of mathematics learn how to dynamically use the program ExamView Test Generator (EVTG). It assumes that the user doesn’t want to save time in the classroom only to lose time at the computer.
The book takes you literally step-by-step through the process of creating dynamic questions. ExamView then does all the work of generating many different values and thus many different variations of the question so that students learn the mathematics, instead of just memorizing a small sample set of questions. To demonstrate the process, we use sample questions that real teachers use – not silly, simple ones you would never give your students. Our goal is to transform traditional classroom questions into dynamic questions using ExamView - and do it in straightforward, understandable steps. In this way, problems with computers will be minimized and our skills as teachers of mathematics will be used to the maximum.
In Chapters 1 through 3, you will learn the steps for creating banks of dynamic questions, (including questions that require a numeric response, true/false questions and multiple-choice questions,) and how to use these banks to create dynamic tests and study guides.
In future chapters, you will extend your skills to creating questions that involve more complex displays, to include other objects such as graphs, tables and pictures, and to export your work into the wide range of compatible software. By doing so, the full range of questions used in the classroom can be transformed into professional looking, easy-to-use and easy-to-grade teaching materials. Let's get started!
