Step 1: Get Started.

• Start the ExamView Test Generator (EVTG) program on your computer.
• From the Startup menu, choose Create a new question bank. Then, click on OK.
• Type in the Question bank title: Linear Functions
• Click on OK.

     Our first question will be:

         T/F: The point (xx,yy) is a solution to the linear function: y=ax+b.

     The variables xx, yy¸ a and b are dynamic variables and our answer will be True. 

    We will then create a second question with the same text, but where the answer is False.

• Remember that we must tell EVTG the answer, so we cannot have both True and False answers in one question. (Actually, this is not strictly true, but we will talk about this in a later chapter - see answer variable.)

Step 2: Create the question.

• Click on New to start building a new question.
• Check to see whether the True/False option is selected (it is the default, which means that it is selected automatically). If it is not selected, then select it.
• Click on OK.

      We now have a True/False program box for creating our question.

 

Look at the elements of this program box that are different from the Numeric response or Multiple choice program boxes.

Notice (red circle) that we must either set the answer to be True or set it to be False.  Whichever we choose, it is our responsibility to then make the question compatible with that answer (just as it was our responsibility in Chapter 2 to put the correct answer in answer choice a).
